The Department of Foreign Languages & Literatures helps students develop linguistic proficiency and cultural competency. In advanced courses, students gain an understanding of the literature, politics, history, and cultures of the world regions in which the target language is (or was) spoken.
Programs
We offer instruction in Chinese, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Japanese, Latin, Russian, and Spanish. There also are three programs in translation: Classical Studies, Comparative Literature, and FL Teaching Internship.
